Magda Cârneci

Writer, art historian, and curator. Ph.D. in art history at Ecole des Hautes Etudes in Paris (1997). At present, she is visiting professor at the National University of Arts Bucharest and the editor-in-chief of the ARTA magazine. She was the curator of many art exhibitions in Romania and abroad, among which Bucharest in the 1920s-1940s: between Avant-Garde and Modernism (Bucharest, 1993), Cosmopolis. Contemporary Visual Arts in the Balkans, (Thessalonica, 2004 / 2005), Isidore Isou (Paris, 2007), Art Embodied. Romanian Artists from the 80s(London, 2011), Interior Gardens (Paris, 2012) a.o. She published among others, Arts of the 1980s in Eastern Europe. Texts on Postmodernism (Bucharest, 1999, in English) and Art et pouvoir en Roumanie 1945 – 1989 (Art and Power in Romania 1945-1989; Paris, 2007, in French). Last book published:Visual Arts in Romania 1945-1990. With an Addenda 1990-2010 (Bucharest, 2013, in Romanian).
