The articles included in this dossier aim to analyze the concept of the artist-run space and this self-curating model that has only recently emerged on the Romanian cultural scene, but already has a history on the international one, imagining other kinds of gatherings and mutual aid and offering continuity to fresh graduates, allowing them to create and exhibit after finishing their studies, or an alternative for more experienced artists, allowing them to exhibit without taking part in the art scene’s games.

This dossier aims to fill in a lack of systematized information about the Romanian alternative scene, given that in the last few years independent initiatives have multiplied at an accelerated pace that is unprecedented in Romanian contemporary art history.
