From November 21 to 23, Scânteia Plus – a new landmark on the cultural scene of Bucharest – opens its doors with an emblematic event dedicated to the intersection of music and contemporary art. Located in the space that once hosted the offset printing section of the Coresi printing house, this meeting place unfolds like a blank canvas, offering an open and flexible framework where collaboration and artistic innovation are at the forefront.
The launch event presents the public with a unique visual experience, showcasing works from the Museum of Recent Art collection and a series of experimental electronic music performances by renowned artists. Creating a sensory bridge, the unconventional sounds of artists Cristi Cons, Dewalta, Francesco Tristano, Mischa Blanos, and Thomas Melchior will pulse through the generous space, creating a harmonious tension with the visual elements. Scânteia Plus Museum of Recent Art is the first step in an ongoing series of events that will expand the cultural horizons of Bucharest.
Driven by Roxana Morar, Michele Bressan, and Dani Ghercă, the project focuses on collaboration and dialogue between artists, the public, and contemporary forms of expression. With a setting that blends the raw textures of concrete with subtle, modern accents, the new space takes on a distinct atmosphere: vast yet welcoming, industrial yet friendly. The ambience, defined by massive structures, is balanced by the artistic works and social setting, inviting every visitor to explore freely.
With significant weight, the name of the initiative leads us into a dimension of possibilities. The regeneration of the name “Scânteia,” deeply rooted and well defined in the Romanian subconscious, takes on a new dimension with the addition of the “Plus”. Suggesting a new way of thinking where collaboration takes precedence, Scânteia Plus not only evokes history but also opens the door to new explorations and creative collaborations. In practical terms, the space will permanently host events that bring together various forms of artistic expression, promoting and consolidating creative interactions between different entities.
Against a backdrop that enthusiastically blends industrial history with the minimalism of contemporary artistic spaces, the interconnection of all active cultural producers in the Romanian landscape becomes a creative force. In an ongoing effort to enrich the conceptual synergy, Scânteia Plus asserts itself as a manifesto for collaboration. Without relying on the recycling of old structures, the project’s initiators aim to reactivate a historic space and create their own narrative, harnessing the energy generated by encounters between artists, ideas, and diverse media.
The launch of Scânteia Plus marks not just the debut of a space dedicated to art and creative exploration, but also a starting point for new cultural directions in Bucharest. From November 21 to 23, between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM, the public is invited to discover this new creative platform that promises to redefine the boundaries of cultural interaction.
