#58-59 Scandalogy

The Scandalogy dossier in the current issue of Revista ARTA intends to review some of the scandals that have affected the way we look at and understand art in the Romanian space, whether we are talking about scandals with a local audience and involvement or of an international nature.
Modernist scandals are notorious for their transformative character concerning the official institutions of art, the destabilization of the canon, and the continuous expansion of the concept of the artist’s freedom. Censorship based on formal, aesthetic criteria disappeared almost without trace once the freedom of the creative act became more widely accepted.
